TOURE: PEP IS A GENIUS OF A MANAGER

Almost anyone would agree right now that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a true genius and that he also deserves all the accolades that have been ringing his name all season. The Spanish manager has just taken his City side to their first UEFA Champions League final after knocking out French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in their two-legged semi-final clash.

He and his City team will now face Thomas Tuchel and his Chelsea side in the final after the Blues saw off Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid in the other semi-final fixture. Guardiola, since joining Manchester City in 2016, had never gone beyond the quarter-final stage of the Champions League but he has now breezed past that stage and straight into the final after defeating PSG.

He is on course to be the first manager to bring the UEFA Champions League title to the Etihad Stadium if he is able to conquer Tuchel and his men, and Toure has lauded his former club's manager, insisting that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager deserves the success he is currently enjoying at the club.

Toure said Guardiola is a master tactician and had only not been able to make it beyond the quarter-final stage of the competition in the past due to ill luck. He said the manager has now found his way around the competition and will do anything he can to make sure that he and his players lift the trophy.

Asked about the popular opinion that Pep buys trophies, Toure said it's not easy to splash huge transfer fees on players because there is no 100% assurance that they will produce the goods upon their arrival. He also added that more credits should be given to Guardiola for how he has managed to turn City into a European force in the five years that he's been there.
